All creation created by God lives and moves towards Him.
Among the icons there are several such where the silent presence of animals is always filled with some important meaning, as if the theological content of the image is also confirmed by this truth of being - all creation created by God lives and moves towards Him. This simple truth can be seen primarily on the icon of the Nativity of Christ, where all life (both angels, people, and sheep flock with other inhabitants of the den) is in one striving for the God-child Christ, lying in the Bethlehem manger.
After all, they will not be asked, and they will not answer ... and only sometimes their appealing look will remind us of the Old Testament prophecy that the lion and the lamb will graze together and sound in consonant beauty with other prophecies about the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ to the world.
He created this wonderful Earth only by His love for us, having no other reason for that. Perhaps that is why the responsibility for all living things is relentlessly present now, as in the image of God, in every person.
