Orthodox Parables and Stories: "We will succeed if we help each other!"

Once the pilgrims were in a hurry for a feast in a large monastery. Among them were a blind man and a legless man, who with great difficulty moved forward, but suddenly stopped altogether. There was a stream in the middle of the road. There was no bridge across it, but everywhere there were large stones, along which people deftly climbed to the other side. What was to be done? The legless man could not step from stone to stone, and the blind man could not see where to put his foot. They thought, thought, and finally decided. The blind man put the legless man on his shoulders, replacing his missing legs, and the legless man showed the blind man where to go, replacing his eyes. So they crossed the stream and were able to continue on to the monastery. It is difficult for a person to cross over evil and unrighteousness to God's Christian life. But we will succeed if we help each other, like those blind and legless.
