Wonderful events from the life of Saint Iakovos Tsalikis
When he was a child, the saint used to go to the chapel of St. Paraskevi every night to light the lamps and pray.
One night, approaching the chapel, he sees the Saint dressed as a nun waiting for him outside the church and says:
Come, Jacob, let me speak to you.
I was frightened, says the Saint, my legs were cut off and I say to her: I am afraid to come near you.
Then the saint says to me, why are you afraid of me? You have been coming for so long and taking care of my church and lighting the lamps for me! I want to tell you a lot.
Then I tell her: ask my mother and I will tell you.
Indeed, the saint asked his mother what to ask the saint and his mother told him to ask about his future.
The other night, Jacob went to the chapel again and found St. Paraskevi waiting for him. He asked her about his future and she answered him.
Your future…? In your life you will see many glories and honors and gold will pass through your hands (and the Saint made a gesture with her hand, indicating the great quantity, the abundance), but it will not touch you.
And indeed, the elder said, countless amounts of money passed through my hands, but it all went to its intended destination, to the suffering, the poor, those in need. And many other things Saint Paraskevi told me, and I returned home again.
Satan did not cease to fight him, using all his art and all his tricks.
He was not satisfied with the spiritual, invisible war where he was crushed by the obedience, prayer, meekness and humility of the Elder, but he also fought him sensibly, visibly.
Eighteen demons once, in various forms like humans, monkeys, etc., attacked him while he was working and from their blows and torture they left him half dead, when he was able to free his hand and make the sign of the Cross.
The same thing was repeated another time by fewer demons.
Worthy of his miraculous life was the Elder's holy repose, which he foresaw, which is why he asked a Mount Athos deacon who confessed on the morning of November 21, 1991, the last day of his earthly life, to stay in the Monastery until the afternoon to "dress" him.
