Commemorating Hieromartyr Charalampus, bishop of Magnesia in Thessaly (Feb. 23/10)

Epidemic on Mount Athos

Saint Charalampus has a special gift of healing infectious diseases. By his intercession, the epidemics of typhus, cholera and plague stop. In 1908, during a deadly epidemic on the Holy Mountain, the head of St. Charalampus was delivered from the monastery of St. Stephen to Athos. After the all-night vigil was served, the epidemic ceased, and since then, every year, an all-night vigil is served on the Holy Mountain in honor of the saint.

As the flower of martyrs and confessors, Christ crowned you with a double crown, magnifying you with countless miracles on earth. Showing the grace of the Lord to us, who come with faith, grant peace, help in temptations and cruel troubles, Hieromartyr Charalampus.
