Three Apples
Once, a sailor from the island of Patmos arrived at the Chrysovalanttou Monastery, where Saint Irina was abbess, and gave the saint three amazing apples, which the holy Apostle John told him to give her.
The first apple nourished her for forty days, while from the lips of the reverend came a wonderful aroma. She shared the second apple on Maundy Thursday with her sisters, and kept the third as a relic, part of the incorruptible heavenly blessings.
