About the monastery
Once a woman turned to the elder for advice, she was in despair, the only daughter decided to go to the monastery. The elder silently listened to the story of his unhappy mother, and then said:
"I'll tell you a story from the ancient patericon (the life of saints). There was one great sinner in hell, his suffering had no limit, his suffering was especially cruel. But one day the suffering began to smile. An unhappy man asked:
"What are you happy about, look at the suffering you've suffered?"
The sufferer said with a smile:
"A monk was born in my family.
You see, my daughter, the future monk was just born and it is not yet known whether he will be a good monk, but the deceased relatives are already glad that they had a prayer book. So let your daughter go and she will pray for your whole family. The comforted mother returned to her home and let her daughter go to the monastery
