What words, prayers, should be said, coming up and venerating the icons?
- Before the icon of the Savior, you can say the Jesus prayer: "Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." or briefly: "Lord, have mercy."
Before the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, you can say a short prayer: "Blessed Virgin Mary save us."
In front of the icon of the saint: "The holy servant of God (name) pray to God for me (for us).
Before the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, you can say a short prayer: "Blessed Virgin Mary save us."
