The monasteries serve as a quiet marina.
The monasteries serve for the laity as a quiet marina from the unrest of worldly fuss: those who come here relax and are reborn spiritually, because in the monastery the course of life is different in comparison with the world, and this very calmingly affects those who come. Monasteries also bring up spiritual children, about which the laity have no idea they have, for they see only the external sides: garbage always floats on top of the water, and gold lies below. - Schema-Igumen Ioann (Alekseev)
