Miracle of the Pistachio tree

The news of this miracle spread across Samarkand. They spoke about it with bated breath, not only Christians, but even Muslims and Jews for whom this place is also sacred.

On the grave of the biblical prophet Daniel in Samarkand, after the prayer of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, a withered tree came to life.

Flowers appeared on the branches of a pistachio tree, which is more than 500 years old, after Patriarch Alexy II sprinkled it with holy water in November 1996 during a trip to Central Asia.
“This tree was already about to be cut down. By that time the monument and the area around it had been put in order, and the ancient withered trunk didn’t fit into it at all. The patriarch prayed at the tree and sprinkled it with holy water. It was in November and next spring. "under the warm rays of the spring sun, the pistachio suddenly blossomed!" said Odil Hodge (caretaker).

According to Interfax, hundreds came to look at a revived tree.
The chairman of the Samarkand branch of the Russian Cultural Center, Yuri Ognev, was part of the delegation accompanying the Patriarch.
“During the service, we were there,” says Yuri Mikhailovich. - And we rejoice in this miracle - it strengthened us in faith.
The biblical prophet Daniel is sacredly honored by followers of three religions, ”says Numon Makhmudov, director of the Museum of the History of Culture of Uzbekistan. “And everyone admires the miracle.”
