St. Ephraim the Syrian
A sparrow imprisoned in a cage calls sparrows to its person; and he who is fettered in sins impels many others to the depths of evils. Decline, my brother, to be with those who love idleness and do not choose to practice silence. Avoid those who love banquets and who say: 'I am having you to dinner today, and tomorrow you will entertain me.' For if you go along with these words, you will not achieve a virtuous life but will become a habitation of every passion. - St. Ephraim the Syrian
