Icon of Theotokos "Panayia Kavouradena
Icon of Theotokos: "Panayia Kavouradena" in the island of Leros. The Church of Panagia Kavouradena in Leros, in the location of Xirokampos is one of the most beautiful churches on the island of Leros. Tradition has it that a fisherman collecting sea shells among the rocks was bitten by a crab. At the same time he saw the icon of the Virgin Mary lying on the rocks. He prayed and the wound healed. He then took the icon to the village church, telling all about the miracle he had experienced. That night he dreamt of a woman in black who told him to put her back exactly where he found her. It was then decided that a small church be built exactly where the icon had been found. Every year the Miraculous Icon of the Virgin is celebrated on the 8th of September.
"Come down my Lady, Mother of God" (Greek Traditional Song from the island of Leros) by Nektaria Karantzi.
