Orthodox Parables and Stories: St. Spyridion heals Constantius
After the fall of Constantine the Great, his sons divided his kingdom and Constantius took over the parts of the East. While in Antioch, he was seriously ill and no doctor could cure him. One night he saw in his sleep the Angel of the Lord showing him a dance of bishops, in the middle of which stood two, as leaders and forerunners of the others.
"Do you see those two Bishops, King?" The Angel of the Lord asked him. "Only they can heal you."
So Constantius ordered all the Bishops of the Eastern Empire to gather in his palace to discover those he had seen in his vision.
St. Spyridon, subjugated to the royal court, arrived in Antioch, accompanied by a friend who later became a Bishop, and was a virtuous and holy man, and his name was Trifýllios as soon as Constantius saw them, with tears in his eyes, sought his blessing. When the Saint touched the King's head with his hand, he was immediately healed!!
