Orthodox Parables and Stories: Worship the Lord with Joy
A priest told us this story. He visited the city of London, which he heard of as a child, and he preached to people about The Lord Jesus Christ, the savior of sinners. One day, he visited the school of its pupils, all of whom were deaf and dumb, who did not hear or speak. When the priest entered that school, he referred to a young boy to come to the blackboard and wrote this question to him:
Who created the world?
And handed the chalk to the boy.
The boy wrote:
"In the beginning God created heavens and earth." (Genesis 1:1)
So he wrote the second question:
Why did Christ come to the world?
The boys face was happy as he wrote:
“Truthful is the word, and it deserves every acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners ...” (1 Timothy 15: 1)
The priest was pleased with the boy's answer, and he wrote to him the third question:
Why are you born deaf and dumb, while I can hear and speak?
So the dear boy wrote quickly:
“Yes, Father, because so is the joy before you.” (Matthew 11:26)
Then the priest's tears came down and he wiped them as he looked with delight at this boy whose face was overflowing with joy and happiness and who gave his life to God's will with joy and pleasure.
Every true Christian born of God (such a dear boy) should give his life to God's will with joy and pleasure.
