St. Nicholai Velimirovic

According to the teachings of the apostles, there are two types of sadness: leading to salvation and leading to death. The first kind of sadness embraces a person at the moment when he realizes his sins: such sadness soon degenerates into joy, as it leads to repentance and denial of a vicious lifestyle. The second sadness is like a solar eclipse. It arises at a time when many minor sins entangle the soul of a person with its web, preventing it from breathing freely. Often the cause of this condition is our misconduct, which we ourselves consider insignificant: we do not mention them in confession, therefore we are not exempt from them.

The best way to defeat oppressive and murderous sorrow is to carefully review your life and confess all unseemly deeds.

Confession allows you to “ventilate” the soul by letting in fresh and healthy air.

After that, you can safely take up the work of mercy.

The Lord will see good aspirations and give the joy that the soul longs for. The joy that the Lord gives cannot be overshadowed by any demonic powers.
