St. Paisios the Athonite



To help another in spiritual life, one does not need many words. Another person needs to see in our life what we believe in. Otherwise, he will laugh at us: we say one thing and do another.

Previously, people were very practical, they succeeded in everything. Someone, in order to cope with verbosity, gathered stones in his mouth and kept them there for years until he was used to not talking. Another read in the patericon that one must not sin with the tongue, and for three years tried to fulfill this. Now we study anything, but we don't learn how to curb ourselves. - St. Paisios the Athonite
