One noble officer was sent to hard labor in Siberia for embezzlement of state money, depriving him of all civil rights and fortune. His wife and daughter also moved to Siberia and lived there in poverty. As a child, the officer's daughter made a vow: that when she grows up, she will petition the emperor to pardon her father. And to submit this petition, the girl at the age of 17 went on foot from Siberia to St. Petersburg. At one time, this story was quite famous, a lot was written about it in the newspapers, amazed at the feat of a girl who walks through the taiga to save her father. The convict's daughter soon became famous. She was picked up on horseback and welcomed, and in Petersburg she was immediately presented to the emperor.
"What was your father convicted of?" asked the emperor.
“Forgive me, Your Majesty, but I don’t know anything about this."
"How do you not know?"
"But the Lord teaches us to honor our parents and it is not the business of children to know about the sins of their fathers."
And the emperor immediately inscribed on the petition: "Have mercy!" saying that a father who raised such a daughter is worthy of God's mercy.
