St. Paisios the Athonite

- Elder, how long should a little child fast?

- If the child is strong and healthy, then he can fast. In addition, there are a wide variety of lean foods on the market today. Earlier, children would fast and run and play all day. In Faras, during Great Lent, everyone - both children and adults - fasted until the ninth hour. Parents gathered their children in the fortress, left toys for them to play, and at three o'clock in the afternoon, when the church bell rang for the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, they went to church and received communion. St. Arsenius of Cappadocia said: "Children, if they play all day, do not even remember food. So, can they really not stand fasting now, when Christ also helps them in fasting?
