On January 11 (Dec. 29) the Church honors the memory of the holy martyrs of the 14,000 murdered Bethlehem babies. Innocent children, killed by order of King Herod, became the first martyrs for Christ.
Modern statistics testifies no less than the ancient atrocities: today in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus every day in the womb of the mother at least 14 thousand unborn children are killed.
“Those who start killing their children in the womb are like Herod, who destroyed 14 thousand babies so that no one could disturb him in life,” wrote the famous Greek bishop, Metropolitan of Nikopol Meletius.
