Orthodox Parables and Stories: "Miracle of a premature baby"

On the eve of the Day of the Medical Worker, our regional newspaper published an interesting material about the Vsevolozhsk department of pathology of premature babies in the local maternity hospital. It turned out to be a wonderful article about selfless doctors and nurses, about premature babies.

I was struck by one episode, which I will retell here. A married couple of older childbearing age (both are already over 40, have adult children) was born a premature baby girl with down syndrome. The parents knew that their child was sick, and warned the medical staff in advance that they were going to abandon the girl. And in this department lay one Orthodox woman with her baby, and she called the priest to baptize the weak baby. At the same time, the priest decided to baptize some other children, whose parents agreed. The sick girl was also christened. Father said that after baptism, the fate of the children may change. And here's what happened: the girl's parents were already going to write a rejection of her ... and suddenly changed their minds and came back for the baby, took her home. And then, after a while, called the department and told how they are incredibly happy with their daughter.

I think the Lord has done a miracle by softening the hearts of these people.

Thank God for everything!
