During the Liturgy, after the exclamation of the priest "Holy Things are for the Holy", a lighted candle is placed before the royal doors as a reminder to the partakers that they, like the wise virgins of the Gospel, with the fear of God, begin to meet the Lord with burning lamps of faith.
