The blessing of the priest is important and of great power. Whoever accepts the blessing from the hand of the pastor of the church in faith and blessing is spiritually benefited by it.
St. John Chrysostom calls the priestly blessing "a spiritual weapon that makes the Christian safe from the wiles of the devil. "It is not man who blesses," says the saint, "but God with his hand and tongue."
