From a monastic
From a monastic:
I became a monk. This is the greatest time of my entire life. The time of the highest experiences and feelings. Truly a great Sacrament (tonsured and after it a person becomes different in essence, and they rightly do that they change their name, since the one who has taken the angelic image becomes different than he was before. A different mind, heart is made, and you experience experiences unknown before).
I remember your words: "How is it possible, having so many shortcomings and weaknesses, that is, being full of sin and daring to take the Angelic image?" When a person wants to correct his life and devote himself entirely to God, then he usually takes the Angelic image. He brings repentance for all his previous sins, for which he receives full forgiveness of these. Gives monastic vows and is invisibly canonized. And if after the tonsure a person dies, then his soul will fall into the midst of the saints. But since we still sin through our weakness, the Savior has given the Sacrament of Repentance for this.
In essence, monastic life is a life of everlasting repentance. As we repent, we receive liberation from previous sins and passions and a person becomes, after many years of achievement, dispassionate, adorned with virtues, and some are further enhanced with the gift of miracles.
Monastic life is angelic life while still in the flesh, of course, if you live according to the vows.
Some people think that one must first achieve and then dare to accept such a great image, that is, monasticism. But by our efforts we cannot do anything, and trying to old age or death, we will not be worthy of the Angelic image. But as soon as a person realizes his weakness, repentance, as he receives forgiveness of his sins, liberation from passions and becomes holy in time. "
