What do you do in the church?

 

They asked the monk on the Holy Mountain:

- What do you generally do in the Church?

- Nothing.

- Nothing?

- Yes, we are not doing anything.

- So why then do you go to Church?

- Does the baby do anything while lying in the womb? In his mother's womb he only feeds and grows until the time comes to be born. And we are doing the same. In the Church we abide and pray, in the Church we feed on the Holy Mysteries and with the help of God's grace we grow and develop until the time comes to be born for eternal life.
