The history of prayer and icons. The icon of the Mother of God "Grieving for the babies in the womb of the slain"
The icon of the Mother of God "Grieving for the babies in the womb of the slain", painted by the masters of the icon-painting workshop "Heaven on Earth", was presented to the Znamensky Church of the Kiev Trinity Ioninsky Monastery. This icon-painting example of the recently glorified icon of the Mother of God is the embodiment of a penitential feeling about children killed in their mother's womb.
On the icon, the Mother of God is depicted with the infant Christ. An angel, embracing the soul of a baby killed in the womb, hands it over to the Savior. The amazing performance of the icon emphasizes and fills with strength not only the repentance that people bring before this image, but also in a special way gives consolation, which grieving mothers lack so much.
