A student once asked the Elder:
“How can I learn to understand people, who can I trust and who should I be afraid of?”
“I’ll tell you first who you need to be afraid of,” said the Elder. “Beware of the most humble-looking!When you see that someone bows before you, embraces you and shows you his extraordinary disposition, that is what you fear most of all!
"How is this, Elder?," the student was surprised. "Explain to me!"
“Because he is the first that will betray you!,” the elder replied with a sigh.
"And who can I trust?" the student asked.
"Trust those who are simple with you and tell you the truth, whatever it may be, these people will be the first to come to your aid."
