Father George Chiotakis

An elderly priest (85 years old), who did not have a university degrees or a degree in Theology, blessed Fr. George Chiotakis (he became a priest at the age of 49 and had 12 children) attended a Theological Conference years ago, which was held in Crete, through Orthodox and Papal relations.
Although he was asked questions, he was not allowed to speak, because he did not have a Theology degree.
Then he answered: "Theology is a mystery and is not a number of degrees."
However, in a written note, which he sent to the organizing committee, he highlighted the issue that the conference was examining:
"It is easier to baptize the devil than to make the Pope wise".
And he left them all speechless!

Blessed Fr. George (Feb. 20, 2016) was loved very much by St. Porphyrios
In particular, Saint Porphyrios came down to Chania and stayed at the house of  Fr. George for two whole weeks, something that Saint Porphyrios was not used to doing.
Once Fr. George had told me a wonderful story about Saint Porphyrios:
"My Emilie, once I was going with Elder Porphyrios to a place here in Crete. Then in front of us we saw a river and I said to him:
"Elder we need a donkey!
And Elder Porphyrios answers:
Where can we find one Fr. George?
"Right here Geronta", and I showed myself.
Then my Emilie I put him on a stone and took him on my shoulders.
As soon as I entered the river Elder Porphyrios stroked my head and said:
''This should be a painting, my father George.''
On the way back, when we returned to the river again and I bent down to put him back on my shoulders so that we could cross, miraculously we found ourselves on the other side without remembering how we crossed, but we weren't even wet!
