How not to lose zeal, not to stop in spiritual development?

 

At the beginning of church life it seems that the main thing is to learn the rules of conduct in the temple, to find answers to exciting questions about the Church. Then one finds the answers, learns the rules of piety, and sometimes gradually loses zeal.

There is no such Muslim concept as "observant" in Christianity. It is important for us not to become rigid, not to stop developing spiritually. We should read spiritual literature regularly and study. Even the saints studied. It is useful to read the lives of saints, books about devotees of piety of the last centuries. There the teachings of Christ are expressed in life. It is important to raise the spiritual bar, not to stop on one level in the spiritual life.

There is often a coldness of faith under the mask of Christian freedom. The devil inspires such sly thoughts as: "Christ called for love, not for going to the temple, the obligatory prayer rule...", "we are modern people, the world is different now", etc.
