Commemorating Martyr Tatianna of Rome (226-235)

Saint Tatiana was the daughter of a wealthy Roman and was brought up by him in the Christian faith. When Tatiana came of age, she became indifferent to wealth and other blessings and loved the spiritual way of life with all her heart. She renounced married life forever and, for her virtuous life, was appointed deaconess of the Roman Church. In this position, she diligently looked after the sick, visited dungeons, helped the poor, trying to constantly please God with prayers and good deeds.
Under Emperor Alexander Severus (222-235), Saint Tatiana was martyred by the Roman city governor Ulpian (about 225) for confessing Jesus Christ. tore it to pieces for the amusement of the spectators. But instead, the lion began to meekly caress her. Then Saint Tatiana was beheaded with a sword. Eight servants of the city governor, who tormented the saint, believed in Jesus Christ, seeing the power of God over her, and they, too, were beheaded by the sword after the torment.

Prayer to St. Tatiana
O holy martyr Tatiana, receive us now, praying and adhering to your holy icon. Pray for us, the servants of God (names), that we may be delivered from all sorrow and disease both mental and bodily, and that we may live honorably in this life, and in the future age grant us together with all the saints the adoration of God in the Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen
