St. Basil the Great on Climate Change:

"See then how our own sins have changed nature, even the climate has become hostile. Winter is not wet and dry, but full of frost and without snow and rain.

Spring is warm, but not the required rains. The heat and cold have exceeded normal limits and are fatally harming people. What, then, is the cause of this disorder and disturbance? Where do these new phenomena come from?
As intelligent people let us investigate. Does the ruler of the world not exist? Did the master God forget His Providence?… A deaf man cannot support it. On the contrary, their causes are obvious.
Although we win, we give nothing to anyone. Although we praise blessings, we withhold them from those who need them. Although freed, we are merciless towards slaves. When we are hungry, we eat but despise the poor.
Although God is a rich provider, we are tight-fisted and indifferent to the needs of the poor... Our storehouses are full of goods, but we have no mercy on him who groans in misery.
That is why the just judgment threatens us. That is why God does not open His hand. We excluded the love of our neighbor as our brother. That's why our fields are dry, because the love between us froze."
(Speech in Famine and Glory. B.E.P.E.S vol. 54, pp. 78,79)
