A family had a very strict mother. She had two boys, maybe eight or ten years old. The mother always had a whip hanging on her doorpost to punish the boys. One day the children got upset, and the eldest broke a lamp - or just the glass ... There is nowhere to hide the trouble. Then the mother came into the house and, of course, immediately saw the traces of mischief. "Who broke the lamp?" - she asks sternly. The youngest suddenly says, "Me!" The mother took off her whip and whipped him severely. And the older brother watches in horror and amazement as the mother beats the innocent brother.
The boy climbs onto the stove, the comforter of all unfortunates. And suddenly the ceiling above him disappeared. A light shone. And Christ appeared. I do not recall what He said to the child in praise of his selfless suffering for his brother. But only the boy made a vow at the same time: to go to Athos to a monastery. And when he grew up, he did so. Then he was abbot there and told me about the vision himself. And now I write it down - for those who ask: "Who has seen God?"
By the prayers of our Holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us!
