Metropolitan of Tver and Kashin, Ambrosy

God did not give the law of the Old Testament so that it would become literally unenforceable thousands of years later. On the contrary, all of His commandments, prophetic words, and fatherly advice were spoken so that man could obey them. But we tend to complicate things. And so times have come when the law, which was supposed to help people avoid sin or atone for sin, has become an overwhelming burden from which only God, who became incarnate and reincarnate, could solve man's problems.

We must be constantly aware of this tendency to complicate things. For sometimes we work until we are too tired to do anything, and we often judge the result of our work by our own fatigue, not by the quality of what we have done. The result of spiritual work should also not be spiritual fatigue from an unbearable load, but joy in the Lord, whose burden is "easy to bear.
