Orthodox Parables and Stories: "Hindu Girl Converts to Orthodoxy"

In India, Hindu parents beat their 11-year-old Christian daughter for her faith

11-year-old girl Sari from India converted to Christianity and was healed of deafness, but her parents severely mocked the child and demanded to renounce the faith. This was reported by the international human rights organization "Open Doors".

“I was bullied at school because of my deafness. They teased me and I was very sad about it. We went to doctors, to Hindu temples and even to sorcerers. Nothing helped,” Sari was quoted on the Open Doors website.

The girl's aunt, who was a Christian, called Sari with her to the service, and there the child was healed through the prayer of the believers.

“I could hear a little, so I even understood some of what was said and what they sang about. Their singing filled my heart with happiness. First they called me forward. I was a little scared and actually wanted to run away. But still she went. They began to pray, and I began to hear sounds, - the girl remembered. Gradually the sound got louder and louder. And I also felt that something was coming towards me. It was getting closer and closer. It was the presence of God. Then the sounds became really clear. I could hear everything. I have never been so happy in my life."

The girl's parents and her older brother took Sari's decision with fear - in their village the majority were Hindus, and the family was afraid of becoming outcasts among their fellow villagers.

Sari did not listen to anyone and continued to secretly go to the Christian church, but her father and brother caught her and beat her many times. Since the girl did not want to give up Christ even under fists, she was kicked out of the house.

The child now lives with a Christian aunt and saw her parents only 2 times in the whole year. Mom talked a little with Sari, but the attitude of the parents towards the Christian girl remained unchanged. The girl asks to pray for the enlightenment of her family.

“God said that He would never leave us or forsake us. He is our Healer,” Sari emphasized.
