Prayer greatly angers the devil, and he uses, defensively, various apparently useful memories to captivate the mind, cut off the memory of God and force him to stop invoking His name, so that prayer becomes fruitless. Aimless memories and thoughts in the hour of prayer distract and captivate the mind.
