Orthodox Parables and Stories: The Miracle of the Priest

One night a man came to a priest and asked him to hurry to bless to baptize his infant, which he had brought with him, who had suddenly fallen ill and was going to die.

So the priest got up from the bed went to him and immediately began to bless them for baptism. However when the priest prepared the water and the holy oil during service  the infant died before being baptized.

Then the priest took the infant and placed it before the baptistery and said: "I tell you, my fellow angel, with that authority which Christ has given us priests to bind and loose in heaven and earth, give the soul of this child back to its body until it is baptized; for it was not permitted to thee to receive it unbaptized. Our Lord Jesus Christ knows that I was not negligent at all, but from the moment when I woke up I immediately started to pronounce these Blessings of Baptism. Saying these things to the angel, the priest raised the infant and after baptizing it fell asleep again in the Lord.
