Sister embroideres a paraman

A paraman is a part of a monastic vestment in the form of a square piece of fabric with four ribbons on the corners. It is given to a monk/nun upon tonsure.
The paraman is embroidered with a cross and other instruments of the Savior's suffering, as well asapostolic words: "I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus" (Gal. 6:17). The ribbons are tied together on the chest, forming a cross, and the shawl itself is held on the back.
The paraman is a symbol of the betrothal of the great angelic image and the taking upon oneself of the good yoke of Christ, in fulfillment of the words of the Savior Himself: "Let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Mark 6:34).
