Orthodox Parables and Stories: A story about the peace of the soul.

"What good wind brings you here?" The wise hermit asked the pilgrim desperately seeking to meet him.

"I want peace," he answered sadly.

The Hermit took a wood and wrote in the soil: I want peace ...

"Look at how simple it is now , " he told the pilgrim and deleted the "I" with a gesture .

"You erase the 'I' first. It is impossible to find peace with one who has complete confidence in himself and thinks that he can find it alone, away from God.

When you run behind your vain desires, you will never find time to relax and be happy.

It is the known "mosquito effect".

If there are ten mosquitoes in a room and you kill nine, the tenth mosquito will not let you sleep.

So are desires. No matter how satisfied you are, there will always be someone who will not let you sleep. "

The pilgrim then looked at the deleted words in the soil and said that he then experienced his first wake.

The 'I' and 'I want' had been erased and… Peace was left …
