April 17 - Saturday of the Akathist of the Theotokos

One of 70 icons painted by the Apostle and Evangelist Luke;
Made not with paints, but with wax mastic, the features of the face are blurred due to the expiration of the world;
It was held in the hands of the Patriarch of Constantinople Sergius I, bypassing the walls of Constantinople besieged by the Avars in 624;
With her, Emperor Michael VIII Palaeologus liberated Constantinople from the crusaders;
In 1592 it was kidnapped from the monastery by pirates and returned to the place by them));
In 1767 it was again kidnapped by robbers-Turks, but returned by local shepherds;
Every evening in the monastery in front of the Miraculous Image, the Akathist is read to the Most Holy Theotokos;
The total number of miracles from this icon is immeasurable !;
The celebration in honor of the Akathist Icon takes place on Saturday, in the fifth week of Great Lent;
Every Wednesday at 21:00 the elders of the cell of "Ephraim the Syrian" bless the Akathist to the Mother of God to be read conciliarly
