According to Sacred Tradition, the Virgin Mary fell asleep in 44 AD. During the transport of Her coffin, in order to be buried, a "hit" was organized by some Jews, with the aim of throwing down the coffin in which she was carried.

But a wonderful thing happened: Those who tried to do this impiety were blinded!

The Jewish priest (Leviticus) named Athonios, was bribed to drop the coffin of the Virgin and not only was he blinded, but his ungodly hands were cut and stuck to the coffin of the Virgin!

This event made the Jew feel heartbroken and believe in Christ and the Virgin Mary. In fact, he took a piece of the garment of the Virgin Mary and miraculously, his hands were detached from the coffin and reattached to his
body!

Later he confessed his faith in Christ in the Synagogue and was stoned

Those who were blinded and believed were healed by Our Lady
